Do you enjoy being part of a team, love being in nature and want to make a difference in your local community?
We actively encourage support and input from members of our community. As a volunteer you will play a significant role in our success and are vital for our future. If you think you have skills, interests or experience that would be of benefit to Ngā Manu please get in contact. Whether you donate your time once a month, or regularly each week, there’s bound to be a way for you to get involved in our volunteer workforce.
Volunteers come from all walks of life and there are different roles available depending on your skills, experience, availability and fitness. Some volunteer roles are available throughout the year while others are seasonal. You must be over 15 years of age to apply and acceptance is dependent upon a satisfactory police check.
These are some of the roles currently available:
- Providing volunteer labour for day-to-day activities around the reserve – You need to be fit and willing to work outdoors in all weathers. Closed, sturdy shoes or boots are essential.
- Assisting with predator control – You will be involved in the clearing and resetting of bait stations and traps in designated locations.
- Helping out with visual merchandising and shop duties – You need experience in a customer service or retail role.
- Become a part of our Volunteer Guide Team – If you possess a passion for conservation, nature and wildlife, enjoy interacting with people and telling stories, then guiding may be for you. We would particularly like to hear from people who are available on weekends and public holidays to help out with Ngā Manu’s free guided tours of the native forest.
