Ngā Manu Nature Reserve is proud to be a part of Nature Connections. Nature Connections explores, expresses and celebrates the way in which our fantastic Wellington eco-assets work together to protect, preserve and showcase the region’s unique environment.
Funded by the Wellington Amenities Fund, Nature Connections is led jointly by Wellington Zoo and Zealandia and includes Ngā Manu Nature Reserve as well as Battle Hill Farm Forest Park, Kaitoke Regional Park, Matiu/Somes Island, Otari-Wilton’s Bush, Pukaha Mount Bruce, Staglands Wildlife Reserve and Wellington Botanic Garden. Nature Connections was a 2015 finalist in the Wellington Gold Awards under the ‘Team Gold’ category.
Wellington Wild Things
Nature Connections has been encouraging local families to get out and about to discover our wildest places. The ‘Wellington Wild Things’ campaign was launched in the summer and is going from strength to strength. The ‘more green time, less screen time’ message is striking a chord with families. Wellington Wild Things sets the challenge of ‘capturing’ the ‘Wild Things’ hidden at each of the Nature Connections partner sites. Several local families have now captured all ten Wild Things!
