Education Group Visits

Ngā Manu provides an important educational opportunity to experience the wonders of New Zealand’s natural environment.

Ngā Manu’s education package is available for non-commercial, non-adult education groups, up to secondary school level. Also included in this offer are children’s holiday programmes, Girl Guides, Scouts, or similar extracurricular education groups.

Student groups, or English languages students here on exchange programmes may take advantage of our Student Group Package.

School Group

Ngā Manu’s Education Package

A minimum of 10 children required – Bookings preferred.

You will be greeted by staff and given a talk on a subject of your choice relating to your study. An inside area will be set aside for your sole use. You will have full access to the aviaries and Reserve. Smaller groups may watch our eel feeding talk at 2 pm or a private eel feeding talk can be arranged for you group at a time to suit. You may download useful resources here and use Ngā Manu Nature Images in your own projects or worksheets.

Cost: *$5.00 per child.

There is no charge for teachers and parent helpers within 1:5 children ratios. Additional adults will gain entry for the special price of $10.00 per adult.

*If eel feeding is required other than the 2 pm feeding, then this can be arranged for an additional $1.00 per student, this covers staff time.

Feed the ducks – $2.00 per bag of duck food.

Feed the eels – $1.00 per eel feeding pole.

Our Education Centre can be hired as a classroom away from school. We are able to put on workshops and activities, hold lectures, or provide a guide for education groups with prior arrangement. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Accommodation for school camps is available nearby at El Rancho, Palm Grove and Forrest Lakes.

Students

NGĀ MANU’S Student group PACKAGE

Ngā Manu’s student group package is available for student groups, or English languages students here on exchange programmes. A minimum of 5 students required. A valid student identification must be shown for each student visiting. Bookings preferred.

You will be greeted by staff, issued with maps and given a briefing on where to go and what you will see at Ngā Manu. You will have full access to the aviaries and Reserve. You may watch our eel feeding talk at 2 pm. You may download useful resources here and use Ngā Manu Nature Images in your own projects or worksheets.

Cost: *$10.00 admission per student.

There is no charge for teachers within 1:5 student ratios. Additional adults will gain entry for the special price of $10.00 per adult.

*If eel feeding is required other than the 2 pm feeding, we may be able to arrange a private eel feeding talk for your group. please contact us so that we can make arrangements and work out a price for you.
